Administrative Staff ~ James E. Cusack, MS Ed., MA ~ Executive Director As the
Executive Director, Mr. Cusack has been involved in every aspect of the school
since 1970. Mr. Cusack is a credentialed special education teacher and a
therapist, who provides guidance and supervision to the On-Site Director, Head
Teacher, Behavior Intervention Specialist, Special Education Teachers, and
classroom staff. Ms. Crowder is responsible for the daily operations of the school. She interviews potential students and staff, facilitates staff meetings, coordinates the daily schedule for the school, and manages many other administrative responsibilities. Trained as a child and family therapist, she also works closely with the student’s families and any involved outside agencies to provide support and assistance in the child’s personal growth. Cynthia Scott ~ Behavior Intervention Specialist Widely trained in Behavior Management Techniques and Intervention Strategies, Ms. Scott has designed the Behavior Management System at Sand Paths, and she is responsible for training the staff in the areas of verbal and physical intervention. She provides crisis counseling to students who need to be removed from the classroom or who are having difficulty solving a problem. Sara Noto ~ Administrative Assistant Cheryl Hendrickson ~ English/Language Arts Cheryl is currently enrolled in the Masters in Special Education program at USF. She has her Single Subject Credential in English, having taught at a school in the Bayview for years, prior to coming to Sand Paths. Cheryl is also a chaplain at General Hospital, where she has first hand contact with victims of violence in San Francisco. Jason Zeha ~ Math Jason has been a teacher in the Bay Area for almost 15 years. He is an amazing Math teacher, who also has a great passion for plants and animals, many of which adorn his classroom. Jason is also the leader of the Sand Paths Academy Chess Club. Adam Kaplan ~ History Adam, who has a Masters Degree in Creative Writing, is currently enrolled in a special education credential program. He has a passion for world events, politics, and history and hopes to incorporate a great deal of Current Events into the History curriculum. Chris Kavanaugh ~ Science Chris joins us this year as our Science teacher. He has over 15 years experience teaching in private, public, and non-public schools.
